Misery [Maroon 5] - Matthew Jordan

I received an email from a blog-stumbler-uponner that suggested I look into this video. I was definitely not disappointed! The cover is of the new single from Maroon 5 - Misery. Monday Morning Piano Moment: My Chemical Romance - Cancer

This is a great song with a great message. I am glad that My Chemical Romance wrote a song like this. It is a nice departure from some of their other music (which I also like). Their live shows are apparently very good. They have a distinct image that brands them (hence the face-paint in this video).

Breaking the Girl [Red Hot Chili Peppers] - Tristan Clopet

Guitar Thrill Thursday: 38 Years Old - The Tragically Hip

One of the most popular bands in Canada, The Tragically Hip has proven to be an awesome force in my appreciation of rock music. They are underappreciated in the U.S. Hopefully, a taste of this song will help you all get to know them. Guitarist Rob Baker has an original style that makes my fingers feel like feathers in a funnel. Anyway, enjoy the solo at the end of this song. He uses a slide for the whole thing and plays a PRS—a winner in my book.

I came across this tribute-type video that is just a compilation of some great Alex Lifeson (of Rush) solos. I thought they were some pretty good selections (although this person only chose songs from the 80’s).

Don't Stop Believing [Journey] - Kurt Hugo Schneider

Glee recently used this song on their show. Now this guy named Kurt Hugo Schneider did it all by his lonesome! Very cool, if you are into this type of genre. My favorite comment in the comment section is this: "So Justin Bieber gets a million dollar record deal and this guy gets nothing? That's bulls***........."

Toxic [Britney Spears] - VersaEmerge

I first heard VersaEmerge on one of the Take Action! compilation albums. I was immediately a fan. Consequently, I came across this great cover version of a modern pop classic. Monday Morning Piano Moment

Very beautiful tune here. I’m becoming a fan of Augustana. This song is from their 2008 album Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt. The singer Dan Layus’ voice is wonderful and the use of the piano is effective. Plus, this performance appears to be at the “Bat Bar.” So that adds a little exciting anticipation to the performance (i.e. when will the bats attack!?)

I thought this was fun and different. Street performing RHCP with bass and guitar. I thought it was pretty well done, particularly the bass part and the guitar solo. You have to imagine the vocals though. Fun performance!

Unintended [Muse] - ortoPilot

I haven't posted an ortoPilot cover in a while. He is, as always, at the top of his game in this performance. It helps that the song is beautiful. You must listen all the way to the end to get the full effect of this performance. Enjoy!

Wonderful chance for a Friday Flashback to the 90's. This song was a big deal in 1995, trust me. The music video was outstanding. Anyway, I just loved the way Kzma transcribes it for the ukulele. Enjoy!

This may be better than the Of Dust and Nations cover Mr. krouglow recorded. Just a great song.

These guys are awesome. Seriously, the guitarist is 11 years old. Simple as that.

Another cover from our favorite Grindian! I admire his song choices almost as much as his sideburns.

This was a wonderful surprise! After filtering through several sub-par Damien Rice covers this afternoon, I came across this treat. Nolan's voice surprised me with its intensity. Louise added perfect harmonies. I'll be looking for more from these guys soon I'm sure.

Incredible! A performance of Pinball Wizard in the Royal Albert Hall! I was expecting the Ukuleles to play a role in this song, but as it turns out they do it all a cappella. Very fun! Enjoy!

It's nice to hear an original interpretation of a Thrice song. I don't know of an acoustic version of this song that Thrice has made available, so to me this was fun to hear. Especially as it accompanied me eating my pot pie.
